About The Position

General Summary: Under general supervision, the State Inspection Technician performs State vehicle safety inspections tests per state and/or federal regulations. Only candidates external to CarMax will qualify to receive the sign-on bonus. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Perform state inspections using appropriate equipment and adhering to prescribed rules, standards and procedures Ensure that all vehicles meet CarMax Final Quality Standards. Provide outstanding customer service at all times. Maintain, repair, and clean special equipment

Requirements

• Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
• 2 Year automotive trade school degree or has minimum 2 years automotive experience
• Requires appropriate state inspection certification
• Work with and through associates of other departments within the store.
• Perform additional duties in a high-energy, fast-paced working environment as requested by supervisor
• Possess above attention to detail and demonstrate manual dexterity in both arms and hands
• Speak and listen to customers, associates and managers in person, on the phone, and/or on the radio.
• Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
• Comply with CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA policies
• Comply with all state, federal and company regulations, procedures and work rules.
• Adheres to all CarMax policies including, but not limited to: Attendance, Proper Recording of Time, Asset Protection, EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) and standards of Professional Appearance.

Benefits

• Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.
• Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible: To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company. For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.
• Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
