The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's largest small business advocacy organization, seeks a State Director to join its State Government Relations team in Ohio. The State Director (OH) is responsible for influencing public policy at the state level and being the resource for small and independent businesses in your state. Principal action is to advocate and protect the interests of small business in the state legislature, with state agencies and the office of the Governor, resulting in an economic and regulatory climate in which small businesses can thrive and prosper, pro-small business initiatives are achieved, and anti-small business legislation is defeated. The position is also responsible for the overall management of the NFIB/Ohio Workers' Compensation Group Rating and Group Retrospective Rating benefit program for our members in the state as allowed and regulated by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and / or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be able to work as part of a cooperative team environment and independent of direct supervision; adhere to Company and Department policies and procedures. Manages and directs staff, including recruitment, selection, and development in support of organization goals and objectives. Leadership responsibilities include reinforcing key organizational messages to foster employee understanding of NFIB's mission and vision and exemplify core values. Performs other projects as needed.
