AARP's Community, State and National Affairs (CSN) Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. It delivers on AARP's social mission by educating and engaging people 50-plus and their families, strengthening communities, and championing issues that help give people financial and health security. As the State Director for the State of California at AARP, you will be responsible for setting the strategic vision and overall direction of the organization's work within the state. This leadership role oversees a team of dedicated staff and volunteers to implement key organizational priorities and drive impact at the state level. The State Director collaborates closely with internal business units, serving as a critical link between state-level activities and broader organizational goals. By monitoring on-the-ground developments and assessing the external landscape, the State Director determines how to best allocate state office resources to address emerging challenges and opportunities. This role plays a vital part in minimizing risk, enhancing the organization's reputation, and maximizing strategic opportunities across the state. As the organization's primary representative, the State Director builds and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community leaders throughout the state.
