About The Position

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all 16 colleges of the University of Florida, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As an intern on our Talent Development team at the UF Health Cancer Institute, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Talent Development division in our Office of People & Culture. You will participate in ongoing talent development projects and activities and support the daily operations of the division. The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning more about talent development, training program management, and instructional design. In your new role you will be responsible for the following: Day-to-day administration of functional Talent Development processes, ensuring smooth, efficient operations. Assisting with LMS administration in Canvas including grading, updating materials, and managing enrollments. Assisting with QA checks and credential compliance for clinical research staff and investigators. Participating in ongoing Talent Development projects including supporting instructional design, editing, and other related programmatic activities. This is an intern-level position, ideal for candidates with an interest in exploring a career after graduation in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, and/or Human Resources with an emphasis on training and talent development in higher education, research, healthcare, or similar industries.

Requirements

  • This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
  • Successful pre-employment screening including a background check.
  • Currently seeking a degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, or appropriately relevant field.
  • Awareness of and/or exposure to foundational learning theories, and best practices.
  • Exposure to and basics skills in using eLearning technologies (eg. Canvas, Articulate, video editing software).
  • Success using Microsoft Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a professional office environment, particularly in higher education, healthcare, research, or similar.
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods and information.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, especially proof-reading and public speaking.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to distinguish and properly manage confidential information and protected data, including sensitive documents, PHI, etc.
