About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Startup Engineering Specialist opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. The position involves planning, coordinating, and executing specialized assignments within a facility or process for startup, operations, maintenance, and testing. The specialist will apply specialized knowledge of startup methods to solve specific problems and provide technical advice and counsel on assignments. The role includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the area of expertise, assisting in project design reviews, and preparing presentations for management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline.
  • 8 - 10 years practical work experience in startup, operations, maintenance or testing.
  • Basic knowledge of pertinent industry or regulatory standards.
  • Some knowledge of construction or field engineering, engineering systems, and applications of startup/test methods.
  • Some knowledge of code, mathematics, or computers.
  • Basic skill in communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Commissioning/Startup testing execution qualification(s) Level II or III (per ASME NQA-1 test program).

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and executes difficult specialized assignments within a type of facility or type of process for startup, operations, maintenance and testing.
  • Applies specialized knowledge of startup methods to the solution of specific problems.
  • Provides resolution of technical questions arising in the area of specialty.
  • Uses advanced startup engineering techniques and modifies theories, precepts, and practices of related sciences.
  • Receives operational supervision and technical assignments from the Manager of Startup or a Startup Engineering Manager.
  • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria within a discipline or specialty for various project activities.
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data relating to a specialty.
  • Participates in special technical education and training programs as directed.
  • Assists in project design reviews and project operations manual preparation.
  • Prepares and gives presentations to management and others as directed.
  • Assists in the preparation of contract proposals.
  • Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training to subordinates and project personnel as assigned.
  • Performs field consulting services as required.
