Requirements

Must hold valid driver’s license.
Must be able to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position. American Sign Language is also an acceptable form of communication.
Ability to consistently comprehend, retain and execute written, verbal and demonstrated directions, explanations and guidance.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to obtain and keep a License issued by the Maryland Racing Commission required of all Racing Services employees.

Responsibilities

Creates and ensures a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount.
Work with the starting judge in all areas involving use of the starting gate.
Will steer and accelerate the starting gate vehicle as instructed by the starting judge.
Will follow the horses around the racing surface in a safe manner.
In the event of an accident or incident involving a horse and/or driver, will assist the starter by strategically placing the gate and vehicle into a helpful position.
Verify that all equipment is in perfect working order prior to each racing program.
Communicate (both written and verbal) with and promote positive team member and guest relations.
Maintain professionalism at all times when working with other team members and/or guests.
Ability to adapt to a wide array of situations in a short period of time.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
