About The Position

Under the direction of the system start-up supervisor, performs tasks required to prepare building automation systems hardware and software for acceptance testing. Independently performs or directs all start-up activities on all projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Four (4) years field experience with electrical/mechanical systems installation or 2-year electrical/mechanical degree.
  • Satisfactorily performs tasks at or above Start up Technician III.
  • Good work ethic, self-starter with good attention to details.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Above average math/logic skills.
  • Good customer relations skills.
  • Intermediate level computer literacy including word processing, data entry, and processing emails.
  • Confident and decisive with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete Company required training.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location/office.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must purchase Company required personal tools and maintain in good condition.
  • Ability and willingness to drive company vehicles as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally to jobsites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
  • Tests building automation systems for proper hardware/software operation prior to customer acceptance.
  • Assists engineers with control functions.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork including checkout sheets, job journals, material requisitions, material repair forms and timesheets.
  • Reads and interprets schematics, BAS diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Retro-fits existing control systems to new BAS controls.
  • Conducts start-up testing of motor control systems and variable speed drives.
  • Troubleshoots installation related problems.
  • Starts up electrical systems (i.e. CCTV, security, etc.).
  • Conducts appropriate on the job skills training of Start-up Techs 1, 2 and 3.
  • Safeguards and maintains Tri-M equipment, material, tools, and vehicles.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation.
