Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong emphasis on fast, friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and filling special orders.
  • Engage in suggestive selling techniques via telephone, in‑store announcements, and direct customer interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director when appropriate.
  • Possess complete knowledge of all department duties, including preparation, brewing, and serving of beverages and food items.
  • Brew coffee and tea to company standards; prepare and maintain hot and cold food items.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation, brewing, and packaging techniques.
  • Operate all required equipment, including kitchen utensils, ovens (conventional/microwave), coffee grinders, coffee machines, espresso machines, blenders, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain the Starbucks area, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and a safe work environment for customers and employees.
  • Ensure proper temperature controls throughout preparation, display, and storage.
  • Maintain visually appealing displays and case presentation.
  • Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Supervise, train, direct, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train team members on store policies, sales techniques, product knowledge, customer service expectations, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identify employees with high potential and support advancement opportunities.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall job performance.
  • Initiate personnel actions including pre‑employment interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary steps.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability standards.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all company policies and guidelines outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Understand and execute opening and closing procedures within the department.
  • Enforce proper code‑dating practices for all products.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Follow all department standards for handling high‑turn, quick‑sale items.
  • Implement seasonal and promotional displays in accordance with company directives.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control inventory to maintain proper product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain products; organize and maintain cooler and storage areas.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory levels according to division guidelines.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, rotating, and ensuring compliance with temperature and storage guidelines.
