About The Position

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is looking for a Barista to join our Starbucks team. Our store is set in our hotel's glass atrium and is located in the heart of downtown South Bend. We proudly offer our guests Starbucks, a full service restaurant, Baker's Bar & Grill, 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, an indoor pool and fitness center. Barista – Starbucks (Hilton Hotel) Position Summary The Starbucks Barista is responsible for delivering the Starbucks Experience® to hotel guests and customers by providing legendary customer service, handcrafted beverages, and high-quality food items in accordance with Starbucks Brand Standards and Hilton service expectations. This role focuses on product quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects both Starbucks and Hilton hospitality values.

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests warmly, establishes rapport, and delivers friendly, personalized service in alignment with Starbucks and Hilton service standards.
  • Determines customer preferences and needs through active listening and product knowledge.
  • Creates a welcoming café environment that reflects Starbucks’ mission of connection and community within the hotel setting.
  • Resolves guest concerns professionally and promptly, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Prepares and serves handcrafted Starbucks beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages, strictly following Starbucks recipes, beverage standards, and sequencing.
  • Accurately prepares and serves pastries, sandwiches, and food items following food safety, temperature, and presentation standards.
  • Ensures beverage quality, consistency, and presentation meet Starbucks expectations at all times.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of Starbucks beverages, ingredients, brewing methods, and equipment.
  • Educates customers on menu offerings, seasonal promotions, and product pairings to enhance the guest experience.
  • Actively promotes Starbucks products and supports revenue generation through suggestive selling and brand-appropriate upselling.
  • Operates Starbucks equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) according to brand and safety guidelines.
  • Maintains inventory levels by restocking coffee, syrups, cups, food items, and retail merchandise as needed.
  • Performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and café areas remain operational and compliant.
  • Follows cash handling, POS procedures, and hotel financial controls accurately.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and visually appealing café, bar, and back-of-house areas at all times.
  • Adheres to Starbucks, Hilton, local health department, and food safety regulations, including proper handwashing, sanitation, and temperature controls.
  • Supports a safe work environment by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with hotel and Starbucks team members to support daily operations and peak service periods.
  • Participates in required Starbucks training, brand updates, and operational refreshers.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and flexibility in meeting operational needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
