About The Position

The Athletic Training Standardized Patient (SP) role at Liberty University involves recreating the history, personality, physical findings, and emotional responses of actual patients to assist in the training and assessment of athletic training students. SPs will be trained to simulate medical scenarios, providing a realistic experience for learners during their educational activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working on a computer or tablet.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to be instructed by faculty and consistently portray/act out a case scenario in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely to provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Observe and remember learners' behavior for accurately evaluating student competencies.
  • Possess professional interpersonal skills when working with students.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a professional manner when interacting with students, faculty, supervisors, and peers.
  • Simulate all aspects of the scenario, including the history of current problem, affect/behavior, and physical findings, in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
  • Accurately and consistently complete post-evaluation surveys.
  • Monitor other standardized patients for quality assurance and communicate with faculty about simulation inconsistencies.
  • Inform the program of changes to contact information such as name, telephone, and address.
  • Accept ongoing feedback from faculty and incorporate the feedback into the case simulation.
  • Provide written and/or verbal feedback to learners and colleagues in a constructive manner.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
