About The Position

Toledo Tool & Die, established in 1940, is actively seeking Stamping Process Technicians (Die Setters) to join their expanding team. The company operates four facilities in the Toledo area and one in Pioneer, Ohio. This full-time position is located in Toledo, Ohio, and offers competitive wages, opportunities for growth, and a clean, safe work environment. The primary responsibility of this role is the accurate and timely setup of progressive and/or transfer dies into power presses to produce finished goods that meet or exceed customer specifications. The technician will also direct the press team to ensure efficiency in die setting tasks.

Requirements

  • A high school education or equivalent with one (1) year minimum experience in die-setting or related technical field, preferably in a metal stamping environment.
  • Read, interpret and comprehend safety, operating and maintenance documents and procedures.
  • Ability to pass mechanical aptitude test.
  • Ability to operate power press.
  • Ability to pass die setter training program.
  • Ability to obtain/retain an Industrial Powered Lift Truck certification.
  • Ability to obtain/retain an Overhead Crane certification.
  • Ability to obtain/retain a Lock out/Tag out Authorization certification.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to ensure delivery requirements.
  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Meet or exceed the job requirements of the job.
  • Identified candidates must be able to work overtime (daily, weekends and holidays).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect all dies before setup to ensure no foreign debris is on the top or bottom of the die.
  • Remove, install, and align and progressive and/or transfer dies and material coils in mechanical power press according to specifications / instructions.
  • Adjust ram stroke to specified length.
  • Ensure 1st off pieces are disposed of properly in red buckets and that finished goods containers are not able to have suspect parts go into them (conveyor diversion, etc.).
  • Start presses to produce finished goods and observe operations to detect malfunctions and to verify press set-up conforms to specifications and to obtain 1st piece sample(s).
  • Review 1st piece samples visually for defects and then use check fixture to confirm 1st pieces are ready for quality approval.
  • Call Quality Auditor for 1st piece verification and review findings with auditor.
  • Inspect equipment, dies or materials to help troubleshoot and identify the cause of errors, other problems or defects.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork/Plex requirements.
  • May be required to operate a press when necessary.
  • Provide proper training to any and all team members who are assigned to Large Press Area.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Authority to stop production in the event unsafe parts or conditions appear.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.
