About The Position

NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative, cutting-edge social and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education, retreats, and summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal. A JSU Club is a school-based Jewish student group run by NCSY’s Jewish Student Union (JSU), providing Jewish teens in public and non-Jewish private high schools with meaningful opportunities to connect, learn, and build community. Through engaging discussions, social activities, leadership development, and Jewish experiences, JSU clubs foster identity, belonging, and pride in a warm and inclusive environment The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products. Position Summary: The Stamford JSU and NCSY Director is responsible for launching, growing, and deepening Jewish Student Union (JSU) programming across public and secular high schools. Through vibrant Jewish experiences, authentic mentorship, and strategic outreach, the Director empowers Jewish teens to explore their identity, grow as leaders, and strengthen their connection to Jewish life. The Stamford JSU and NCSY Director will also serve as the teen director of Congregation Agudath Shalom, a local shul in Stamford, CT. We are looking for someone with a deep passion for Jewish life and a strong sense of mission, who communicates clearly and stays organized. Experience with teens or youth-focused environments is a plus, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented team player, familiar with Jewish school culture and the challenges teens face today.

Responsibilities

Launch and/or lead JSU clubs across multiple public and secular high schools
Deliver relevant, thought-provoking Jewish content that sparks curiosity and conversation
Build and maintain strong relationships with school staff to ensure long-term access and impact
Partner with the regional and national teams to identify and pursue strategic expansion opportunities
Create and run JSU clubs and out-of-school JSU programming for teens in 4-8 public schools in the Great Stamford area.
Further levels of teen involvement among JSUers and prospects through regular correspondence and contacts in person, by phone, or social media, alone and in conjunction with regional and advisory staff.
Coordinate at least one annual chesed or social action mission in partnership with National NCSY.
Lead local social action initiatives throughout the year.
Cultivate teen leadership through mentoring, responsibility, and meaningful opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
Build safe, healthy, trusting, ongoing relationships with Jewish teens from diverse backgrounds
Serve as a role model through authentic, Torah-driven mentorship
Facilitate and engage teens through existing NCSY and JSU programs, including: FNL’s, Latte and Learning, Ice cream chills, Israel Advocacy/ Social Action Programming, Shabbat meals and Onegs, Teen Shiurim, and other community-wide social events.
Coordinate “Shabbos and Yom Tov” home in Stamford for teens to have a space to engage in over the weekends
Work with the NCSY and JSU team and local community to create a programming plan annually for both day school and public-school teens in the Stamford area.
Actively participate in planning and programming aspects of Regional Shabbatonim and events.
Manage all aspects of teen relationships, including cultivation, social engagement, mentoring, and stewarding growth.
Cultivate relationships with parents of teens who participate in NCSY and JSU programming.
Cultivate partnerships and coordinate programs with the local shuls, schools, Jewish Federation, and other YSOs and Jewish organizations.
Work closely with the local staff and regional staff to implement programming and contribute to a positive working environment.
Engage and oversee the involvement of volunteer staff from local and regional universities as Advisors
Coach student leaders and empower them to run impactful JSU clubs
Recruit and participate in immersive experiences such as Shabbatons, NCSY and JSU Summer programs, NCSY and JSU trips, and gap year opportunities in Israel
Attend weekly meetings and help plan and coordinate Connecticut regional programs and events.
Participate in staff training and development sessions
Manage program budgets and collect and review engagement data
Serve as a consistent and inspiring presence in synagogue-based teen programming, fostering spiritual growth, community connection, and leadership development.
Facilitate a bi-monthly Shabbos morning teen minyan and two Shabbos-based monthly teen programs at Congregation Agudath Sholom (CAS).
Host or co-host teen bi-monthly Shabbat meals to deepen relationships and strengthen community.
Partner with the CAS Youth Director to plan and teen Onegs and joint Shabbat programming.
Encourage teen participation in Shabbat services, kiddushim, Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations, and ongoing learning opportunities.
Coordinate and run seasonal teen programs aligned with the Jewish calendar, including Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, Purim, Pesach, and Shavuot.
Participate in and lead monthly Chapter Shabbatons and Shabbos experiences, including meals, Onegs, and Motzaei Shabbos programs.
