About The Position

The Staffing Specialist at MedStar Health is responsible for developing and maintaining nursing department staffing schedules, ensuring adequate staffing based on hospital census and vacancies, and keeping Human Resources informed of recruiting needs. This role is crucial in managing staffing levels to meet the operational needs of the hospital, particularly in the Nursing Administration department.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Business or related field or a High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze staffing reports and recommend short- and long-term staffing strategies.
• Communicate recruitment needs to Human Resources.
• Assign float pool personnel to units with vacancies and coordinate schedules.
• Work with HR to hire temporary staff and coordinate their orientation.
• Ensure proper staffing levels by developing and maintaining schedules to meet hospital needs.
• Collaborate with managers on vacancy and vacation projections.
• Maintain staffing records and generate reports, including Position Control and Shift-by-Shift reports.
• Address last-minute staffing needs by using cost-effective options.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and community outreach efforts as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
