About The Position

Clinical Care Operations (CCO) is the hub of patient management for the facility, including: unit staffing, bed assignment, house supervision, emergency preparedness (code events and internal disasters), patient transports, dispatch, and data analysis. Several employee groups report to this department, including clinical positions such as RN House Senior Managers, SWAT Nurses, and the Resource Team (RNs, Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Coordinators, and Behavioral Health Technicians), plus non-clinical roles such as Office Supervisors, Transport Supervisors, Dispatchers, Placement Liaisons, and Information Specialists. As a Staffing Coordinator, you will play a vital role in coordinating staff coverage throughout the assigned hospital to ensure a high level of patient care. In addition, you will provide administrative support for the entire Clinical Care Operations department. As an ideal candidate, you will thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, managing multiple tasks, and working within a variety of software programs. This is a full time (4 day, 9hr shift) position, 1:00pm - 10:30pm. Weekend rotations and holidays are required in this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for facility-wide patient and/or staff placement operations. This position is the primary source of staffing information for the individual units. The incumbent assists leadership with fiscal responsibility by placing the most cost-effective staff on the floors and ensuring that floors are not over or understaffed for every shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • The position also requires skills and abilities typically gained with 1 year of experience in a healthcare office setting, previous experience in patient services or admitting would be very helpful.
  • Must have medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines while working on a variety of projects.
  • Must be proficient with commonly used office software and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate' Degree preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates facility-wide staff placement operations. Coordinates staffing on all/most units within the facility. Adheres to staffing policies and guidelines and maintains fiscal responsibility.
  • Coordinates staffing functions for the nursing department including RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, Tech’s and clerical support. Developing computerized work schedules; anticipates needs on a weekly basis and schedules extra staff as needed. Adjusts shift-to-shift staffing based on census. Utilizes established staffing guidelines to assure the most cost-effective, quality staffing is used.
  • Performs office management and clerical services for department(s) as requested. his includes, but is not limited to, entering, maintaining, and archiving data using multiple software platforms, as well as answering calls, providing information and screening telephone calls.
  • Addresses continual demand for staffing requirements while functioning as liaison for external and internal customers.
  • Demonstrates excellence in organization, communication, and human relations skills.
  • Prioritizes and organizes own work. Uses discretion to modify work practices to achieve results or improve efficiency, while using established policies and general instructions and procedures to resolve a variety of problems. Chooses best alternative from group of known possibilities.
  • Identifies, resolves, and communicates real and potential problems and information to appropriate nursing leadership.
