About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for generating, managing, and updating master schedules for the Nursing and/or Social Services Department. This role involves making adjustments as needed according to budget constraints, census fluctuations, call outs, and pre-planned leaves of absence. The Staffing Coordinator establishes and maintains a professional relationship with the administrative and clinical staff, ensuring effective communication and coordination of staffing needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferably an Associate's degree in related field.
  • Experience and knowledge of organizing and managing the master schedule plan for clinical staffing.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • 2 years of experience in a relevant role.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes.
  • Experience in crisis and behavior management.
  • Knowledge of hospital admissions functions, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule via Shifthound scheduling system.
  • Updates Shifthound daily to reflect Call Outs, PTO, etc.
  • Monitors daily staffing report according to staffing grid.
  • Prepares a 6 week schedule based on a specified staffing pattern.
  • Reviews master nursing schedule for staffing deficiencies and coordinates optimal utilization of available staff.
  • Replaces call outs in a prompt manner.
  • Covers staff shortages during scheduled shifts, including second shift, third shift, and weekends.
  • Handles call ins during scheduled hours and after hours call ins with departmental shift supervisor.
  • Communicates with evening, night and weekend supervisors about all staffing issues and needs.
  • Schedules orienting staff with preceptors as directed for orientation and follows through the orientation process.
  • Assists in scheduling staff for CPR & HWC to ensure they maintain their current certification.
  • Reviews and reconciles weekly time for nursing and social services staff and corrects in Kronos.
  • Monitors staff absenteeism and tardiness and reports promptly to appropriate unit coordinator, supervisor, or department head.
  • Maintains effective communication with Human Resources regarding employee concerns, changes, etc.
  • Successfully completes all required trainings via in services and/or Healthstream in a timely manner.
