Position Summary: Develops and maintains position control grid that aligns with approved staffing grid. Manages the hospital schedule and staffing for direct care staff. Monitors the bed board and staffing grid to ensure units are staffed accordingly. Tracks 1:1 staffing needs and variances. Utilizes staffing acuity tool to adjust staffing needs accordingly. Coordinates with Nurse Directors and ouseSupervisors to observe staffing needs to determine if changes including flexing staff are needed. Ensures all units are staffed to the grid and acuity level. Manages and processes incentives in a timely manner that supports employee engagement and compensation. Creates and manages long term schedule to identify and forecast staffing needs weeks in advance. Provides a broad range of reporting and time card management. Reviews over time and manages schedules to ensure minimization of over time and floating.

Responsibilities

  • Implements scheduling strategies to support business objectives.
  • Manages schedules for direct care staff utilizing UKG and Position Control Grid.
  • Forecasts staffing needs on a 6 weeks basis in correlation with budgeted census.
  • Provides a broad range of tracking and reporting including, yet not limited to, incremental overtime, overtime, productivity, attendance, tardiness, per diem requirements, leaving early, call out requirements.
  • Coordinates with Directors of Nursing and Human Resources to ensure staff are held accountable for Service Excellence Standards and attendance guidelines to include corrective action, coaching, and / or education.
  • Maintains relationships with supervisors as to processes, reporting and data provision to most effectively transition staff from shift to shift but to also track real time data with regards to needs, barriers, variance approvals, staffing and/or unit concerns.
  • Consistently monitors staffing with a focus of overtime reduction, variance avoidance and onsite observation of acuity, admission times, and trends while maintaining patient safety staffing ratios that is aligned with the staffing grid and acuity tool.
  • Participates in the interview and selection process for Mental Health Workers based on staffing vacancies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
