About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator (RN) position at Advocate South Suburban Hospital involves overseeing bed utilization and patient flow to ensure quality patient care. The role requires collaboration with various departments, including Patient Registration, Physicians, and Nursing divisions. The Staffing Coordinator will manage bed assignments, facilitate daily capacity huddles, and evaluate pending discharges while ensuring optimal patient flow. This position is full-time, day shift, and requires on-site presence. The Staffing Coordinator will also participate in leadership activities to promote healthcare transformation and nursing excellence.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience.
  • Active participation in hospital committees.
  • BSN preferred, with agreement to enroll in a BSN completion program within two years of hire.
  • CPR Certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certification for triage component.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in bed management and capacity planning.
  • Strong communication and team-building skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates bed utilization by overseeing patient flow and capacity management.
  • Acts as a liaison for the Patient Command Center, monitoring bed assignments for approved admissions.
  • Establishes and updates bed management plans throughout the day.
  • Facilitates daily Capacity Huddles and generates action items related to capacity management.
  • Determines the need for Emergency Capacity Bed Huddles and initiates Peak Census alerts.
  • Evaluates pending discharges and collaborates with other departments.
  • Collaborates with EVS and Patient Transport to ensure optimal patient flow.
  • Communicates unit-based staffing concerns to Nursing Leaders.
  • Participates in leading healthcare transformation and nursing profession.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with nursing division leaders.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participates in continuing education for professional growth.
