Under the general direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position provides strategic and operational leadership for agency-wide staffing, recruitment, and position control functions. This incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing recruitment and hiring activities for law enforcement, judicial services, and administration personnel. This position plays a critical role in ensuring staffing levels align with budgeted position control while meeting operational and public safety needs. The Staffing & Background Supervisor works closely with executive leadership and command staff, requiring a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities. This position must exercise considerable independent judgement, interpret and apply agency policy, and pivot recruitment strategies in response to direction from command staff, budgetary constraints, and workforce demands. Supervisory responsibility includes directing and mentoring human resources staff assigned to recruitment, background investigations, and personnel support functions.
