About The Position

Taylor Engineering is seeking a motivated entry-level (civil, coastal, environmental, water resources, or other relevant degree) to join our nationally recognized floodplain mapping team onsite in Jacksonville, Florida supporting efforts to reduce flood risk and protect communities. You’ll receive real-world training in hydrology, hydraulics, and GIS, while helping shape the maps that inform disaster planning, insurance, and infrastructure decisions across the U.S. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be mentored by top coastal and water resource professionals, contribute to high-impact national work, and build a meaningful, long-term career. As a Coastal or Water Resources Engineer, you’ll work with experienced engineers and scientists to: Review Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) requests to evaluate proposed changes to flood hazard data. Analyze hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) and/or coastal models for technical soundness. Contribute to model development, mapping support, and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with NFIP technical standards and other governmental regulations. Communicate your findings clearly in written reports and with project stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Coastal, Environmental Engineering (or a related field) with a focus in water resources and/or engineering water and/or coastal hazard modeling
  • 0–5 years of experience in civil, coastal, and/or water resources or related engineering
  • EIT certification preferred (or in progress), with the goal of obtaining PE licensure
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (required for federal work).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with H&H modeling tools like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, FLO-2D, SWMM, ICPR, or MIKE series tools and/or coastal modeling tools like ADCIRC, CSHORE, or WHAFIS.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Curiosity, teamwork, and a desire to build technical depth in water and/or coastal modeling.
