About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Tax Accountant to join our team on a part-time, hourly basis. This dual-focused role combines tax preparation and accounting support, including state and local sales/use and franchise tax returns, as well as monthly accounting reporting for a segment of the business. The Staff Tax Accountant collaborates regularly with functional leaders, auditors, regulators, and the corporate accounting team, ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting. This is a flexible part-time opportunity for a professional who wants to leverage their accounting and tax expertise while contributing to a dynamic, collaborative team. You’ll have the chance to work on a variety of tax and accounting projects, gain exposure to multi-state tax compliance, and make a meaningful impact within our growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in tax or accounting.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be familiar with corporate tax returns.
  • Working toward industry certification (CPA, CMA) preferred.
  • Candidates with NetSuite experience will be given priority consideration.
  • Tax accounting experience in a high-growth technology company is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax, franchise tax, and property tax returns, including extensions and quarterly payments.
  • Compile and review tax provision schedules, consolidating data for reporting purposes.
  • Research federal, state, and local tax regulations and recommend strategies to optimize compliance and efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and ensure implementation across processes.
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Streamline tax procedures and develop supporting documentation to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuing education, professional organizations, and industry networking to stay current with tax developments.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with accounting tasks related to your segment of the business.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
