Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SE&IT) program. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 10 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience with a PhD.
  • Ability to perform with a team of fast-paced multi-skill system performance analysts and modeling and simulation (M&S) developers.
  • Strong technical background in using numerical M&S and a high-level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, or similar language environment.
  • Knowledge of building and/or analyzing M&S for integrated missile defense systems including subsystems such as EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, space systems, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.).
  • Ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment.
  • Willingness to assume a technical leadership role at times.
  • Ability and willingness to work on a customer site.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense System Specification.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains.
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems.
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system.
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems and use of descriptive and analytical models.
  • Experience with DOORS and/or MBSE processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, benchmark, and utilize medium-level fidelity and first principles physics-based simulations to conduct analysis and develop requirements for integrated multi-phenomenology sensors, battle management command control & communications, and weapon systems for the Missile Defense Agency.
  • Support and develop analysis planning and tool developments.
  • Support requirements product development.
  • Represent the Systems Engineering and Integration Team to Missile Defense Agency to internal and external stakeholders in reviews and technical interchanges related to analysis.
  • Collaborate with team Subject Matter Experts to ensure technical quality of performance requirements and analysis products.
  • Facilitate expansion of Model Based Systems Engineering capabilities to incorporate analytical modeling and performance requirements.
  • Create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders.
  • Lead small teams of engineers in the development of products.
