About The Position

As a Staff engineer, you will be part of the SW team responsible for Motion Planning of the next-generation L2-L4 Automated driving stack. Your work will span production, pre-production, and demo development over the immediate-to-5+ year product horizon. You will work with high independence and lead in- and inter-team topics while coaching and supporting peers to foster team growth. The team is agile, cross-site, cross-functional and has end-to-end responsibility on the SW level. You will jointly own the Motion Planning algorithms and their implementation, ensuring quality, and scaling during the entire product lifecycle - from concept through to implementation, integration, V&V, production, and addressing post-production defects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in computer science, robotics, or similar
  • Strong background and working experience with Trajectory Optimization (Multi-objective optimization, MPC, LQR, NLP, QP, etc.)
  • Experience with Decision Making for robotics
  • Advanced C++, version control
  • Software Engineering expertise
  • Test-driven development experience
  • Background in AD/ADAS feature or system development
  • Path finding expertise
  • Experience with robust software design for safety-critical systems
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Familiarity with dependability (FUSA/SOTIF)
  • Familiarity with Automotive SW standards (AUTOSAR, MISRA)
  • Experience in Requirements Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Leverages advanced Software knowledge and experience to design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyzes user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to design and customize software for optimal operational efficiency.
  • Designs and implements software modules for large-scale products and systems.
  • Participates in and leads design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and integration efforts to ensure projects are completed to specifications and schedules.
  • Performs complex code reviews and regression tests as well as triages and fixes issues to ensure the quality of code.
  • Collaborates with individuals outside the software function (e.g., Hardware, Systems, and Test engineers) to ensure solutions work with other components of a specific project.
  • Writes detailed technical documentation for complex Software projects.
