About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Structures Staff Engineer (Bridge) interested in developing their career to join our structures department in our Baltimore, MD or Fairfax, VA office. The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges (primarily of concrete and steel construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures). The candidate will be responsible for designing steel and concrete bridge elements, performing bridge load ratings, developing reinforcing bar lists and quantities, reviewing shop drawings and assisting with bridge safety inspections.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited 4-year engineering college.
• 2+ years of experience in bridge and retaining wall projects preferably to VDOT and/or MD SHA standards.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Proficiency using CADD (Microstation preferred).
• Proficient in MS Office (WORD and EXCEL).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated and detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree is preferred.
• Experience designing transportation related structures projects to MDOT SHA and/or VDOT standards desired.
• Preference for knowledge of OpenBridge Designer, Leap Bridge Concrete, CSiBridge, and/or similar analysis programs.
