About The Position

The Staff Speech Pathologist will provide professional Speech Pathology services specific to patient's age and diagnosis including evaluation, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, documentation, educating patient and family, conferring with other professional and performing other related duties as required. The role involves working in a variety of settings including all floors of the acute care hospital, with patients including both inpatients and outpatients. The work schedule will include some weekends. Therapists in this role are members of ESC Local 20 union.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communication Disorders / Speech Language Pathology.
  • Successful completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Current CA license issued by the State of CA Department of Consumer Affairs, Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current Basic Life Support Provider certificate from the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Speech Pathology.
  • Familiar with standard Speech Pathology equipment.
  • Ability to analyze situations and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in speaking and writing.
  • Emotional stability, personal and professional integrity, and interest in growth and learning.
  • Collaborative professional open to learning and participation with an experienced team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Level 1 or 2 Trauma Hospital.
  • 2+ years of experience in acute care setting.
  • Certification and/or clinical Experience with the following populations: FEES, MBS, PMV, Trauma, Critical Care, Neonatal ICU (10 bed NICU onsite), Neuro (OP, Traumatic brain injury, post-concussion), Orthopedic.
  • NANT certification.
