About The Position

The Staff Speech Pathologist will provide professional Speech Pathology services specific to patient's age and diagnosis including evaluation, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, documentation, educating patient and family, conferring with other professional and performing other related duties as required. Will work in a variety of settings including all floors of the acute care hospital. Patients will include inpatient and outpatients, with work schedule to include some weekends. Therapists are members of ESC Local 20 union. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communication Disorders / Speech Language Pathology.
  • Successful completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • 2+ years of experience in acute care setting is desired.
  • Caseload includes acute care, neuro, geriatric and Level II trauma patient population in both inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Experience in Level 1 or 2 Trauma Hospital preferred.
  • Experience with FEES, MBS, PMV.
  • Current CA license issued by the State of CA Department of Consumer Affairs, Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current Basic Life Support Provider certificate from the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Speech Pathology.
  • Familiar with standard Speech Pathology equipment.
  • Ability to analyze situations and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in speaking and writing.
  • Emotional stability, personal and professional integrity, and interest in growth and learning.
  • Collaborative professional open to learning and participation with an experienced team.
