Job Summary : The Strategic Sourcing Manager plays a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain. This position is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of raw materials. By analyzing the existing supplier base and commodity categories, the Strategic Sourcing Manager identifies opportunities for improvement and implements strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include monitoring market trends, negotiating supplier contracts, fostering strong supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company standards and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 8 years of professional experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation skills and an understanding of supplier management.
  • Strong understanding of Quality systems and experience improving quality
  • Strong understanding of design and engineering processes.
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP and engineering software is a plus.
  • Basic analytical skills for tracking procurement metrics and identifying trends.

  • MBA with minimum of 5 years of professional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the business relationship with suppliers, including performance management (Quality, Delivery, Cost), contract negotiations and evaluating the supply base.
  • Oversee and manage Quality issues with suppliers to improve the quality of components they are supplying.
  • Assist and work closely with the Buyers to set up the best replenishment systems for the components supplied by the supplier.
  • Assure Mesa is receiving the best possible cost, given the quality and delivery requirements.
  • Develop long term sourcing strategies with a cross-functional team using a structured process which includes; analyzing market trends, understanding the items in the commodity, reviewing the performance of existing suppliers, identifying potential suppliers and documenting the strategy
  • Implementing the long term sourcing strategies by managing the transitions of each item from existing suppliers to new suppliers.
  • Evaluate Make v Buy opportunities for finished goods and other assemblies.
  • Evaluate and continually determine the best region of the world for us to be sourcing from.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are compliant with company policies, procurement guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained for compliance purposes.
  • Investigate and resolve any quality or delivery issues with suppliers, escalating to senior buyers or management as necessary.
  • Assist in tracking supplier performance metrics such as Quality Delivery and Cost.
  • Work closely with other departments such as Manufacturing, Operations, and Engineering to understand material and service requirements and align sourcing activities accordingly.
