About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer at Boundless, you’ll serve as a technical lead across key initiatives, shaping architecture and engineering best practices while delivering meaningful product experiences for immigrants and their families. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex, high-impact problems, and guide other engineers in making thoughtful technical decisions. You will also help scale the engineering organization by actively contributing to hiring, onboarding, and shaping a collaborative, inclusive culture.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development
• Strong background in backend systems and product-driven engineering
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering scalable architecture in production environments
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend framework (Rails preferred)
• Working knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks
• Comfortable working across the stack and owning features end-to-end
• Deep commitment to code quality, reliability, and thoughtful testing practices
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading by influence
• Collaborative and effective communicator, especially when navigating ambiguity
• Passionate about building inclusive, high-performing engineering teams

Nice To Haves

• Expertise in Ruby/Rails and Javascript/React/Typescript
• Solid understanding of security practices
