As a Staff Software Engineer on the Developer Platform team, you will play a critical role in revolutionizing healthcare by supporting Zocdoc's Engineering teams. Your work will focus on improving developer workflows and ensuring that the features Zocdoc builds are functional, secure, and resilient, which in turn enables millions of patients to access the care they need. You will also provide technical leadership, guiding design decisions and mentoring other engineers to foster best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional development experience
  • Successfully shipped tools for your fellow developers and deployed highly scalable and resilient consumer-facing products
  • Diverse experience with a variety of development tools and techniques. All the acronyms - AWS, CI, CD, IaC, APIs, etc
  • Experience with containerization, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated history of solid and well-rounded system design skills with a strong understanding of OO Fundamentals
  • Improved developer productivity, efficiency, and velocity by setting up best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and observability
  • A passion for building platforms and understanding what makes a great platform - infrastructure as code, automation, libraries, APIs, standardization, and the right level of abstractions
  • Successfully mentored other engineers in the past and have encouraged your peers to use engineering best practices
  • Been an effective communicator capable of delving into technical project details and facilitating discussions on technical aspects
  • A growth mindset and inspire excellence
  • Experience successfully working with a distributed workforce preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent engineering experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and decomposing complex product challenges to drive sound design decisions
  • Working hands-on shipping code using languages like C#, GO, Python, and TypeScript
  • Automating what can be automated and breaking down the barriers of traditional software development to increase developer productivity
  • Making meaningful contributions as you own and release features that will impact our large engineering organization, ultimately affecting patients, doctors, and Zocdoc’rs alike
  • Collaborating with teams of dedicated engineers and product managers
  • Supporting the large product engineering organization with their tooling, deployment, CI/CD pipelines, shared services, and other platform needs
  • Mentoring your peers and colleagues by giving thoughtful feedback, with the notion that helping others means learning and growing yourself
  • Continuously improving our ability to deliver quality solutions through evolving engineering processes and technical capabilities
  • Advocating for a productive and positive developer experience
