Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space. Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for world class software to help private fund CFOs is crucial. This is where Maybern comes in. We are equipping fund managers with intuitive, flexible fund management software, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors. Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to tackle the company’s most complex, ambiguous, and high-impact technical challenges across products and teams. This role is designed for a strong individual contributor who combines deep technical judgment with strong leadership instincts and thrives in messy, high-stakes problem spaces. You should bring experience taking on undefined problems, driving solutions end-to-end, and raising the technical bar across an organization. To thrive in this role, you must be an entrepreneurial engineer who enjoys both solving deep technical challenges and leading teams through ambiguity.

Have 7+ years of working experience as an engineer building and shipping world class products with experience handling systems that process millions of records in near real-time
Have led product initiatives and have taken features from idea through launch and landing
Bring expert level knowledge of backend system architecture and system design

Nice To Haves

Experience with a diverse range of technologies. Plus for experience with the following:
Django or similar Python frameworks
Celery/Temporal or other distributed worker frameworks
Redis/SQS
AWS or other cloud platforms
Postgres or other SQL solutions
Some full stack experience, such as work with Typescript and React
Have mentored engineers, been the tech lead for projects and products, and helped build strong engineering cultures
Experience working in a fast paced environment to ship features. A plus to have with experience at early stage startups

Responsibilities

Design, architect, and implement solutions to the hardest technical problems facing the company, whether that’s performance bottlenecks, data correctness issues, system scalability, architectural debt, or cross-cutting platform concerns.
Act as a technical leader across teams by setting standards, influencing architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and improving engineering practices. You’ll step in where problems are most complex or blocked and help teams move forward with clarity and confidence.
Work closely with product, design, and domain experts to translate unclear or evolving requirements into robust technical solutions. You’ll help teams make smart tradeoffs and build systems that are flexible, reliable, and easy to evolve.
