About The Position

About DeepWalk DeepWalk is a fast-growing venture that helps cities keep people safe using computer vision to map and monitor their sidewalks. We have ongoing contracts with cities, universities, and engineering firms. Last year we processed thousands of miles of sidewalk across 20+ states. We’ve raised $4.1M, recently closed a $2.1M seed round led by Enable Ventures, and we currently generate 7-figure revenue helping communities across America. What You’ll Do We’re hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of our computer vision platform for automated sidewalk inspection.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years focused on architecting, deploying, and operating scaled production systems
  • 3+ years of experience working in a startup or growth stage company
  • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical engineering teams
  • Experience deploying and operating computer vision / ML systems in production
  • Fluency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Java, TypeScript, Go, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of system design, scalability, and distributed systems
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real-time or large-scale data pipelines
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CDK, etc.)
  • ML observability, data validation, or model deployment experience
  • Familiarity with geospatial or sensor-driven data
  • An interest in urban planning and accessibility

Responsibilities

  • Implement CV / ML systems (semantic segmentation, instance segmentation, and classification)
  • Design data pipelines to process thousands of miles of sidewalks through our computer vision and automated measurement systems
  • Guide architectural decisions for handling hundreds of terabytes of sidewalk data and millions of images
  • Lead and mentor our current development team as an IC
  • Collaborate with CEO/operations to guide and prioritize feature development
  • Define best practices around deployment, observability, and system reliability
