About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the Global Marketplace Seller Support Engineering team as a Staff Software Engineer. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will design, build, and scale highly available systems that power Walmart’s global marketplace. You will partner closely with architects, product leaders, and engineering teams to deliver robust, cloud-native solutions at massive scale. About Team: Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. What you'll do: Design and build scalable n-tier, microservices-based applications using Java/J2EE and related technologies, including the development and integration of AI-powered agents and services. Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions by partnering with the product management, project management, business and user experience teams. Prepare requested information and obtain cross-function approvals. Leads the work of other small group of engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples. Identify short- and long-term solutions and timelines, review and provide feedback for proposed solutions and performing design and code reviews of changes. Passion for growing and applying technical skills in service to customers Experience with SCRUM, and/or Extreme Programming methodologies. Analyzing business requirements, storyboards and similar artifacts of the scrum process, work in an agile development environment with a quick turnaround time and iterative builds. Work cross-functionally with various teams: product management, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results commitment to team success and positive team dynamics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10–14 years of experience designing and developing scalable, distributed systems in product-based environments.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
  • Strong experience in distributed systems, system design, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Exposure to Kafka or other high volume, low latency messaging infrastructure
  • Practical exposure to Agile Methodologies
  • Good understanding of CI/CD
  • Ability to perform in a team environment and ready to take ownership.
  • True passion for technology, love to continuously learn and strive for excellence.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work on multiple requirements and features concurrently.
  • Great communication/collaboration skills
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
