Staff Software Engineer

Vantaca+HOAiRaleigh, NC

About The Position

Powered by AI, Vantaca's vision is big! We are the leading AI-native community management performance platform that enables owners and operators, community management teams, boards and associations to work smarter, faster, and with unprecedented insight. More than just accounting and management software, Vantaca is intelligent business operating software that leverages artificial intelligence to automate routine work, surface actionable insights, and help our customers increase revenue, efficiency, flexibility, and control.    Built on modern cloud architecture with a single-platform design, Vantaca combines comprehensive functionality that adapts to 100% of business processes with AI-powered automation that learns and improves over time. Our proactive AI capabilities don't just report on what happened; they predict what's coming and recommend what to do next. From intelligent document processing and predictive analytics to automated workflows and conversational interfaces, we're transforming how community management companies operate.    With seamless integrations across the software and banking ecosystem, we're building the intelligent hub for community management where AI doesn't just assist, it anticipates. Vantaca is focused exclusively on community management and is the trusted technology leader defining the AI-powered future of the community association management industry. We're building something fundamentally different, and our customers are experiencing the competitive advantage that comes from working with truly intelligent software.    Vantaca just achieved unicorn status with a $1.25B valuation, so it's safe to say we're past the "scrappy startup phase." We're not just building a successful company, we're building the category-defining platform that will transform how an entire industry operates. As part of that growth, we're building out our second engineering and product hub in Raleigh-Durham and we're looking for the people who'll help shape it from the ground up.   OVERVIEW We're looking for a Staff Engineer who thinks in systems, leads through craft, and is fluent in AI-native development. This isn't a role for someone who uses AI occasionally, it's for someone who has fundamentally changed how they work because of it. You'll tackle our most complex engineering challenges, mentor the engineers around you, and help define what world-class software development looks like inside an AI centered software development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in C#, .NET, and SQL Server, including complex business logic, scalable architecture, and system design
  • Hands-on experience with Azure (Azure Functions or equivalent cloud-native services a strong plus)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, REST APIs, and Entity Framework
  • Experience with Redis, NUnit, MS SQL optimization, and modern .NET versions (.NET 8+)
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Windsurf in real production work
  • Ability to articulate how AI has changed your development workflow with specific, concrete examples
  • Curiosity about and experience with AI-assisted development patterns, using AI as a collaborator across the full development lifecycle, not just for code completion

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex features across our C#/.NET and SQL Server stack, setting the standard for quality, performance, and maintainability
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor; pair with engineers, lead code reviews, and elevate the team's collective capability
  • Own the most difficult engineering problems end-to-end, from diagnosis through documentation of the solution
  • Lead and contribute to inception ceremonies that translate product intent into validated, spec-driven work ready for AI-assisted construction
  • Drive spec-first development practices, producing specifications that are execution documents, not afterthoughts
  • Continuously identify opportunities to increase engineering efficiency and move operations toward greater automation and autonomy
  • Partner with product and QA to define acceptance criteria, resolve defects, and ensure quality at every gate
  • Lead software deployments and actively participate in backlog refinement to shape the right solutions
  • Stay on top of emerging AI tooling and engineering practices, bringing new ideas to the team with intention and urgency

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision kick in day one
  • Unlimited PTO (with a requirement for employees to take a minimum of one continuous week per year)
