About The Position

The Pre Purchase Experience Transactions team at Walmart Global Tech is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the systems that power Walmart’s customer journey before checkout. Their mission is to deliver seamless, reliable, and scalable transaction experiences that support millions of customers every day. As a DevOps Engineer within this team, you will play a critical role in automating, optimizing, and supporting these transaction platforms. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure high availability, performance, security, and SOX compliance of services, directly impacting the speed and reliability of customer-facing features. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related roles
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Open Observe etc.)
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with SOX compliance processes, controls, and documentation for IT systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in large-scale, high-availability environments is a plus
  • Experience in e-commerce or retail technology
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards (including SOX)
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining Walmart in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable deployments
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) using Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application and infrastructure performance
  • Automate operational tasks and incident response workflows
  • Collaborate with developers to improve build, test, and deployment processes
  • Ensure security, compliance, and SOX best practices across environments
  • Participate in SOX assessments and audits, providing evidence and documentation as required
  • Work with the SOX Compliance team to complete assessments and required actions/tasks
  • Submit and manage Change Requests (CRQ) for production deployments in accordance with SOX requirements
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident management
  • Document processes, runbooks, and architecture decisions
