As a Staff Software Engineer, you will join the Shared Service & Cloud Enablement portfolio team within the Acceptance Solutions organization. Your role will involve designing, enhancing, and building Visa's transactional platform in an agile development environment. You will contribute to multiple projects, including full-stack development of real-time transactional services, REST services API, and container-based services, aiming for highly functional, secure, scalable, and resilient real-time payment systems. The position emphasizes development, unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration, with code moving to production rapidly to serve a vast customer base including major companies like Facebook, Nike, and Apple.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale
  • Comfort in pushing the boundaries, ‘hacking’ beyond traditional solutions
  • Expertise in one or more general development languages (e.g., Java, C#, C++)
  • Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability
  • Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and Agile/Scrum teams

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience in building large scale enterprise level backend applications using Java, Spring, REST API, RDBMS, NoSQL, Vert.x, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Jenkins
  • Good analytics & problem-solving skills with a solid foundation in algorithms, data structures and common design patterns
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery, Container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency with Observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, OpenSearch, M3DB, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, FluentBit, Elastic Search)
  • Experience with TDD using JUNIT/functional automation testing and tools
  • Proven experience delivering complex software projects and solutions effectively through Agile methodologies on a regular release cadence
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to think big and challenge the status quo
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Hands-on experience in AI, particularly Generative AI, is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • GCP or AWS Cloud certifications are a plus

  • Apply standard processes on the use of programming languages (e.g. HTML, C++, Java) to write code that fulfills website modification requests and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with others to support the piloting of new technology capabilities and features that enhance the user website experience across e-commerce products
  • Analyze bugs for simple issues and apply debugging tools to verify assumptions
