About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer, Vulnerability Management, you will play a key role in building and maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers Iru’s multiple product lines. Reporting to the Director of Engineering for VM, you will work on the reliability, scalability, and security of Iru’s Vulnerability Management services. This newly formed team will focus on enabling rapid innovation by developing and maintaining foundational components that support our broader engineering organization. You will collaborate closely with other development teams to decompose monolithic applications into well-structured services, build self-serve infrastructure capabilities, and develop shared services that enhance developer productivity. The VM team owns and maintains essential components such as the API Gateway, Service Mesh, Real-Time Communication (MQTT), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation to ensure platform stability and reliability.

Requirements

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, or similar).
Experience working in a B2B SaaS company with multiple product lines.
Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture and microservices preferred practices.
Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
Ability to identify problems/opportunities, break them down into critical parts, and design scalable solutions.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies.
Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDNs) and caching strategies.
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and gRPC.
Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality software.
Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
Strong experience with peer code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback to maintain and elevate coding standards.

Nice To Haves

Experience with API gateways (e.g., Kong, AWS API Gateway).
Familiarity with service meshes (e.g., Dapr, Linkerd, Istio).
Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ).
Hands-on experience with MQTT and IoT protocols.
Experience with observability tools and practices, including distributed tracing, logging, and monitoring.
Familiarity with security and compliance best practices in cloud environments.
Prior experience in security or it management products
