About the position
Monad Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Tech Lead to architect and implement high-performance software systems for their EVM Layer-1 blockchain. This role involves significant individual contributions to system architecture and mentoring team members, with a focus on building components such as the virtual machine, database, and consensus mechanism in C++. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging problems in a collaborative environment, contributing to the future of crypto technology.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement improvements to blockchain components such as the virtual machine, database, and consensus mechanism.
- Research experimental improvements to enhance system performance.
- Understand the entire system in detail, including ongoing work.
- Actively review pull requests (PRs) and provide technical mentorship to team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical lead role.
- Proven track record of shipping products and working on challenging software projects.
- Hands-on experience in writing production-ready code in C and C++. Rust experience is a bonus.
- Ability to write clear and concise code and act as a hands-on architect.

- Experience with blockchain technology or crypto (not required).
