About The Position

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with security analysis in one or more of the following, such as counter abuse, threat modeling, incident or emergency response, vulnerability management, pen-testing, or cryptographic concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Understanding of threat modeling, risk assessments and security assessments of systems.
  • Passion for the security and backend development space.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the Photos Security Strategy.
  • Set and drive security practice standards and guidance for the Photos team.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure changes to help Photos maintain a leading security position.
  • Lead threat assessments to identify vulnerabilities and new attack vectors against Photos infrastructure and products.
  • Drive product vulnerability response and remediation, including repros, mitigations, and hardening.
