We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in networking, distributed systems, and secure connectivity to help shape the next generation of Todyl's Secure Global Network (SGN) - the backbone of our SASE platform. As a technical leader, you'll drive the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, high-performance network services that power secure connectivity across our global PoPs. You'll collaborate closely with Architecture, SRE, and Product teams to modernize the SGN control and data planes, enhance reliability and observability, and set engineering standards that raise the technical bar across the organization. If you're a systems thinker with a passion for building resilient, secure, and elegant network solutions at scale, we'd love to have you on the team.

  • Lead the design and implementation of SGN's core networking and connectivity services, ensuring scalability, performance, and security across distributed environments.
  • Architect and evolve the SGN control and data planes to support multi-region redundancy, active-active resiliency, and zero-downtime deployments.
  • Build high-performance systems spanning VPN, routing, proxy, and policy enforcement layers.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and SRE to define and execute the technical roadmap for Todyl's SASE platform.
  • Drive observability, automation, and validation frameworks that improve reliability and reduce operational incidents.
  • Review designs and code for scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
  • Mentor engineers across the pod, raising the bar on design, testing, and delivery practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including system-level or distributed networking development.
  • Proven experience designing and operating large-scale, high-performance network services or platforms (e.g., SASE, VPN, SD-WAN, secure edge, or carrier-grade networks).
  • Strong programming expertise in C and Go, Rust experience is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of Linux networking internals, routing protocols and tunneling technologies (WireGuard, IPSec).
  • Experience with multi-tenant distributed systems, microservices architecture, and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos).
  • Familiarity with AWS/GCP networking, gRPC and modern CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills for complex, cross-system issues.
  • Proven ability to translate broad technical goals into well-scoped deliverables, estimate work accurately, and drive execution through clear task breakdown and ownership within the team.
  • Proven ability to lead by influence, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across domains to drive outcomes.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical field.
  • Extreme ownership, particularly when things go wrong or aren't completed on time.
  • Intrinsic drive for growth; self-motivated, always learning, and focused on raising the bar for self and team.
  • Strong bias for action with impact; make tough decisions quickly, measure results, and iterate with clarity to move the mission forward.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change, embrace change and uncertainty as part of startup life.
  • Humility, purpose over ego to acknowledge mistakes, learn from others, and embrace feedback while putting the mission first.
  • Rust experience is a plus.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Health savings and flexible spending accounts (HSA/FSA)
  • Life insurance
  • Short- and long-term disability
  • Access to on-demand healthcare and telehealth services
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Flexible PTO in addition to 13 company holidays
  • 401(k)
  • Generous parental leave programs
