We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to join one of our Mobile teams in San Francisco. You’ll help lead a team shaping the core functionality that keeps learners engaged and successful. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality mobile experiences. You’ll be expected to influence technical direction, drive architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers while driving projects from ideation through release. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about creating intuitive, We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office a minimum of three days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company.   • Design, build, and maintain high quality software supporting the core product
  • Define and drive Quizlet’s key technical strategies, influencing cross platform teams and cross functional partners
  • Actively provide technical mentorship and guidance to other team members
  • Partner effectively with cross-functional partners and other engineering teams, influencing their decisions and designs as appropriate
  • Drive incident investigations, post mortems, and retrospectives
  • Effectively advocate for long-term improvements to systems and processes
  • Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure operational excellence and resiliency
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate new solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs (both monetary and development/maintenance costs)
  • 8+ years of experience in mobile software development
  • Proven track record of technical leadership and coaching development teams
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills on mobile software products
  • Expert level skills in either iOS or Android development and some level of comfort with the other.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across a range of audiences
  • Experience with both native Android and native iOS development approaches. Including evaluating tradeoffs
  • Track record of influencing adjacent engineering teams of best practices or mobile client needs
  • Experience providing technical leadership across multiple teams working on diverse objectives
