About The Position

As a Staff iOS Engineer, you will lead the evolution of our most critical patient-facing experiences on iOS, including search, sponsored results, and insurance, with a bold vision for what search can become. This is an opportunity not just to improve existing patterns, but to fundamentally rethink how patients discover care by transforming traditional search into intelligent, conversational, chat-based experiences that feel natural, guided, and deeply personalized. Our mobile app is where a growing share of patients begin their healthcare journey, and you will be at the center of making that journey smarter, faster, and more intuitive. You will help move us beyond static filters and keyword queries toward dynamic, AI-powered conversations that help patients clearly express their needs and confidently find the right care. You will advance the future of search, advertising, and insurance on iOS and unify them into a cohesive, intelligent discovery experience. This is a core leadership role. You will set architectural direction for the iOS platform, drive product initiatives that span multiple teams, and embed directly with teams when needed to deliver high-impact work. You will shape how we build mobile software at Zocdoc by raising the bar on engineering quality, mentoring engineers across the organization, and ensuring our iOS platform scales to support the next generation of conversational, AI-driven healthcare discovery.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in iOS development, with deep expertise in Swift and a strong track record of building high-quality, production-grade applications.
  • Experience with or strong interest in building conversational, chat-based, or AI-driven user experiences, including real-time, dynamic interaction patterns.
  • Experience working with agentic coding tools and have familiarity with agentic coding patterns to optimizing development workflows
  • A proven history of designing and scaling complex, user-facing mobile applications, with thoughtful attention to performance, reliability, and long-term architecture.
  • Strong experience integrating with backend services and APIs, and the ability to design efficient client–server interactions that support responsive, real-time product experiences.
  • A passion for technology and strong engineering judgment, with the ability to think critically about scalability, maintainability, and system design tradeoffs.
  • Experience leading large iOS initiatives and driving work through ambiguity, aligning engineering, product, and design partners around shared goals.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the quality bar, promoting best practices in code quality, testing, and delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting and building high-performance iOS features across search, sponsored results, and insurance flows that power Zocdoc's patient experience.
  • Setting architectural direction. Driving decisions on modularization, state management, networking, and shared component design.
  • Embedding into product teams to provide technical leadership, unblock delivery, and ensure features ship with quality and performance.
  • Partnering with product, design, and backend teams on intuitive mobile experiences that translate complex healthcare and insurance information into seamless patient flows.
  • Driving cross-team alignment on engineering standards, shared infrastructure, and best practices through design docs, technical deep dives, and high-signal code reviews.
  • Mentoring iOS engineers across the organization on Swift best practices, system design, and technical decision-making.
  • Building robust observability into the mobile experience—measuring, debugging, and improving performance across search, booking, and insurance journeys.
