About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer in Information Security, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure software solutions that align with business objectives. This role requires expertise in software architecture, coding, and continuous integration to ensure high availability and maintainability. You will collaborate with stakeholders to analyze requirements, manage risks, and drive technical excellence across projects. Your contributions will support the development of resilient systems while promoting best practices in security, quality, and performance within a dynamic, technology-driven environment. About the team: The AI Security Team within Information Security integrates cybersecurity, generative AI, and governance to enhance organizational protection and secure AI systems. The team designs and implements advanced security architectures, ensuring robust infrastructure and application security aligned with industry standards. Collaborating across domains, they develop scalable, resilient solutions to address evolving security challenges. Combining expertise in systems engineering, security technology, and infrastructure management, the team drives innovation and maintains the integrity of critical systems that support Walmart’s business objectives.

Requirements

  • AI/ML Fundamentals: Deep understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, frameworks (e.g., Pytorch), Generative AI and LLMs and model deployment processes (MLOps) and Hugging Face.
  • AI Model Security: Knowledge of specific threats to AI/ML models, including adversarial attacks (e.g., evasion, poisoning), model inversion, and membership inference.
  • Prompt Engineering/Injection Defenses: Expertise in securing large language models (LLMs) against attacks like prompt injection.
  • Secure Coding Practices: Ability to write robust, efficient code that is inherently secure and resilient to common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
  • Python Proficiency - Python libraries(Pandas, FastAPI, Scikit-learn, Pydantic, Flask)
  • Cyber security principles and application of security best practices in secure software development.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 4years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC
  • Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 2 years’ experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, analyze, and address technical and business requirements, ensuring alignment with security objectives.
  • Design scalable, modular software solutions incorporating security best practices and disaster recovery considerations.
  • Develop, review, and maintain high-quality code using Python and other relevant technologies, adhering to coding standards.
  • Implement and support continuous integration and delivery pipelines to enhance software reliability and security.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and defect management to resolve security vulnerabilities and improve system performance.
  • Lead testing strategy development, including automation and security testing, to validate software integrity.
  • Monitor program metrics and provide regular reporting to ensure project milestones and security goals are met.
