We employ more than 1,900 people across our headquarters in Santa Ana and offices in Jersey City, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Toronto, Guadalajara, Dallas, and Paris. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Full-Stack to provide architectural leadership and hands-on expertise across our PCGS customer experiences platform. Your primary responsibility will be designing, building, and scaling the systems that power how customers interact with PCGS; from submission flows to core coin and banknote data capabilities that unlock new Marketplace features. As a Staff Engineer, you will apply your full-stack expertise to maintain, enhance, and optimize these customer-facing applications and services, focusing on reliability, performance, and usability while tackling complex technical debt and high-impact issues. Beyond hands-on development, you will be expected to drive architectural decisions, shape the long-term technical strategy for PCGS customer experiences, and mentor the team. You are a strong executor who can move critical work forward while also continuously learning, experimenting, and improving how we build. This role is crucial for strategic change, leading complex initiatives that evolve our customer journeys, integrate new capabilities, and guide the modernization of our platform. You will focus on improving and extending the customer experiences that power our PCGS business, helping ensure our technology and experiences are world-class for the next generation of collectors.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering industry experience building backend software, with exposure to microservices
  • Experience using Python for production-grade applications
  • Experience using strongly typed languages (C#, Java, etc) is a plus
  • Experience architecting systems (service-oriented, event-driven, distributed systems, cloud) as well as hands-on development experience
  • Experience with client-side frameworks, such as Vue.js, React, or Svelte. Svelte experience preferred.
  • Data modeling and database design expertise; Postgres and/or SQL Server is a plus
  • Experience configuring and using DevOps tooling such as Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, AWS stack
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product partners
  • Possess strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to visualize and document processes
  • Proficient at using appropriate security, documentation, and/or monitoring best practices
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Participate across the entire software development lifecycle, taking features from concept to production release
  • Maintain and extend the current tech stack, centered on a Svelte frontend and Python microservices, while gradually modernizing and supporting legacy systems in .NET C#.
  • Communicate with Product and other stakeholders to develop business requirements
  • Collaboratively create solutions with other teams
  • Troubleshoot software issues and debug a large codebase
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests
  • Contribute to technical documentation to increase maintainability of software assets
