About The Position

Join our Firmware team as a key contributor in architecting, developing, and integrating embedded software for cutting-edge Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) products. In this role, you will build and maintain real-time firmware components that interface closely with custom hardware, deliver deterministic performance, and meet high standards for reliability, safety, and testability. You will work across the full life cycle - from requirements and design through implementation and verification - collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to advance our MR platforms and improve patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8 years of experience designing, developing, and debugging embedded/firmware software using C++ and object-oriented design (including on-target troubleshooting).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a related field
  • 3 years of experience using continuous integration and automated testing
  • 5 years of experience in embedded system troubleshooting and on-target debug using tools such as emulators, JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
  • 5 years of experience working with a Realtime OS such as VxWorks
  • Experience using a Linux development environment and containers
  • Passionate user of AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., code comprehension, testing, refactoring, reviews, documentation) in compliance with security, privacy, and quality guidelines.
  • Experience in a regulated environment requiring rigor in documentation of requirements, designs, testing, and results.
  • Experience working on medical devices within a Quality Management System (QMS)

Responsibilities

  • Lead firmware development efforts including technical planning, execution, and progress tracking
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software/firmware that meets stringent quality, reliability, real‑time performance, and testability requirements
  • Collaborate with system, hardware, and architecture teams to translate requirements into robust firmware designs and well‑defined hardware interfaces
  • Partner with global teams and architects to drive consistent design patterns and architectural improvements across products
  • Conduct and participate in design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and regulatory expectations
  • Execute work within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), contributing to PI planning, sprint execution, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth, code quality, and strong engineering practices
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability by driving work to closure, proactively communicating status and risks, and reliably following through on commitments
