Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to find a senior Software Engineer to act as a Deputy Software lead in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. The Seychelles program needs an experienced SW IPT Deputy Lead to work on their integrated Command & Control (iC2) Phase 1B effort. This position will be located at either our Morrisville, North Carolina, or Fairfax, Virginia, sites. (compensation varies per location) This position requires being fully onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work. The SW IPT Deputy Lead will work closely under the SW IPT Lead and be responsible for the day-to-day functions that support the Seychelles Phase 1B software teams. Candidate needs to have an understanding of all Agile processes and ceremonies to oversee the various scrum teams which are operating according to schedule and budget. Basic understanding of program management that needs to include both EVMS and how to gather the proper metrics for reporting to upper program management. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as we will be managing an extremely high performing team, the majority of which are senior staff members.

Requirements

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at time of application.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant software engineering experience with a completed bachelor's degree.
  • 10 years of relevant software engineering experience with a completed master's degree.
  • 8 years of relevant software engineering experience with a completed PhD.
  • 14 years of relevant software engineering experience with a completed associate's degree.
  • 16 years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required).
  • Experience working within C2 ground systems and managing a team of SW engineers or as the technical lead of a SW Subsystem.
  • Experience developing software on large teams and full knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.
  • Experience with Java, C++, or Python (or similar scripting language) in a cloud environment.
  • Experience working with a geographically distributed team.

Nice To Haves

  • STEM degree.
  • CAM experience and/or certification.
  • Proficient with JIRA metrics and reports.
  • Experience performing an Integrated Baseline Review (IBR).
  • Understanding of Software Architecture.
  • Proficient in cloud native software development with microservices.

Responsibilities
