The Crypto Trading team is on a mission to build the world's best crypto trading platform! We design, build, and maintain the services that power and accelerate our crypto products, platforms, and operations. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll shape our crypto architecture and lead technical strategy, implementation, and innovation. This is a high-impact role where you'll drive reliability, scalability, and security across systems and help us deliver industry-leading products to our customers. This role is based in our New York, NY office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience technically leading large-scale systems and complex projects
- Strong technical judgment, with a focus on reliability, security, and scalability
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across engineering and product teams
- Ability to operate effectively in highly regulated or complex domains
- Passion for customer value and deep product engagement
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Python/Django, Golang, Postgres, Redis, Kafka
- Familiarity with financial systems or crypto trading infrastructure
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS cloud architecture
Responsibilities
- Lead technical architecture and system design for Robinhood's crypto trading platform
- Partner with product to shape the roadmap and long-term vision
- Collaborate across engineering teams to implement scalable and secure systems
- Drive design reviews, lead complex projects, and own critical technical decisions
- Elevate engineering excellence through mentorship, best practices, and hands-on problem solving
- Optimize systems for performance, availability, and operational efficiency
- Support recruiting and onboarding of engineers to grow the team
