DatadogNew York, NY

About The Position

Datadog’s Cloud Foundations group is seeking a Staff Engineer to help scale and evolve the critical infrastructure services that power our global platform. This is a high-impact role with the flexibility to focus on one of two key areas: elevating reliability practices across engineering teams, or driving the evolution of internal infrastructure from pure delivery to a user-centric platform approach. You’ll partner with engineering leadership and cross-functional peers to shape how Datadog provisions, secures, and scales our cloud environments—whether through hands-on architectural design, process transformation, or internal product development. At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

Requirements

  • Experienced staff-level engineer with a track record of technical leadership in infrastructure, reliability engineering, or platform development
  • Skilled at partnering with teams to improve engineering processes and shipping high-quality code that supports reliability goals
  • Comfortable navigating and influencing across domains, including engineering, product, and technical program management
  • Strong background working with at least one major cloud provider; bonus if you’ve worked across multiple (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Proficient with Kubernetes and familiar with operating infrastructure in production at scale
  • Comfortable learning new tools and systems; able to balance hands-on implementation with broader strategic thinking

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical leader to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure systems
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams to audit, refine, and elevate reliability and operational practices across Cloud Foundations
  • Contribute deeply to the architecture and implementation of high-leverage infrastructure components, especially around cloud identity, resource provisioning, and secure access
  • Help lead the shift from infrastructure delivery to a platform and internal product model, bringing clarity to user needs and surfacing high-impact opportunities
  • Work with cross-functional partners to define golden paths, self-service capabilities, and guardrails that reduce toil while preserving security and performance
  • Engage in collaborative technical design and mentorship across a distributed organization of engineers

Benefits

  • Generous and competitive benefits package
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan
  • Continuous career development and pathing opportunities
  • Employee-focused best in class onboarding
  • Internal mentor and cross-departmental buddy program
  • Friendly and inclusive workplace culture
