About The Position

ARA is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to be part of their team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The company is a 100% employee-owned scientific research and engineering firm dedicated to solving critical national problems to improve safety, security, and quality of life. The successful candidate will collaborate with other developers and engineers to design and develop products for a diverse range of clients. As a member of the development team, the engineer will operate within an agile environment, focusing on delivering high-quality software. This role involves being a key member supporting multiple teams in developing enterprise technologies to aid real-world operations for the Navy and military communities. Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Experience with agile development methods
  • Experience with C# or Java
  • Experience developing Microsoft .NET applications
  • Experience with JavaScript
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in small team settings
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with a frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue)
  • Solid understanding of responsive web design
  • Experience with AWS services
  • High level of self-initiative and self-motivation with the ability to work under minimal supervision

  • Designing, developing, and debugging applications in C#, Java, or JavaScript
  • Frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Performing code analysis and review
