About The Position

The role of the Budget Officer is to plan, organize, and direct the work of approximately 21 employees in the preparation, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of the Department's budget. The Budget Officer serves as a fiscal advisor to the director and executive staff, and acts as a liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Health and Human Services Agency, Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO), and Legislative Budget staff.

Requirements

  • Experience in budget preparation and financial management.
  • Strong customer service skills, including flexibility and good communication skills.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of budget development.
  • Understanding of budget and accounting principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience explaining complicated financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience working with budget/accounting regulations at the local, state, or federal level.
