Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Staff Services Analyst is responsible for performing administrative duties which require initiative, good judgment, tact, and diplomacy, along with a thorough knowledge of appropriate administrative practices. The position requires a thorough working knowledge of California Highway Patrol policies and procedures, the California Public Records Act (CPRA), and the requirements of related legal statutes related to requests for departmental records for the Custodian of Records (COR) Unit. Search, redact, and certify records requested pursuant to CPRA, informal discovery requests, and subpoenas. Review, analyze, and research records requests, including verifying case, legal, and statutory citations and redact records accordingly. Conduct critical analysis and incident reconstruction of telephone calls, Computer Aided Dispatch, and other incident-related materials pertaining to information requests. Provide analysis and recommendation on releasing records sought under the CPRA. Provide assistance, direction, and guidance to communications centers and the public in regards to CPRA questions and requests as related to communications centers records.
