About The Position

First American is seeking a Staff ServiceNow Software Engineer. This person will lead the architecture, development and optimization of our ServiceNow platform. An ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a product mindset, and takes a hands-on approach to building high-quality and sustainable software products. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead projects as part of a small, focused engineering delivery teams, to build fast, clean, reliable code that drives business value for our customers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in software engineering, with experience in large-scale distributed system development, including hands-on operational experience.
  • Experience driving engineering best practices for high-functioning software engineering teams through effective use of tools and automation.
  • Passion and expertise for building large-scale, back-end services and APIs, using modern architectures (Macro / Mini / Micro Services).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms.
  • A strong understanding of software engineering principles and modern infrastructure operations.
  • Ability to build robust, high-scale, generic, and reusable solutions.
  • Experience mentoring and training an engineering community on development best practices.
  • Familiarity with deployment and observability strategies that support continuous delivery and high availability in a cloud-native environment.
  • An outcome-oriented approach using metrics and data to understand development productivity metrics.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong relationship, collaborative, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and AngularJS.
  • Experience with Glide API and other ServiceNow-specific scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and experience with database design and optimization.
  • Experience with REST/SOAP API integrations and web services, XML, JSON, and other integration technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow High Security Settings and platform best practices.
  • Automated software testing (unit, integration, contract).
  • Certifications: Certified Application Developer (CAD) or ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certifications are highly desirable.

  • Lead Technical Strategy: Have a clear vision for ServiceNow platform and can develop a long-term strategy to achieve the goals.
  • Collaborate/Partner: Partner with product management to envision future features and help plan product roadmaps.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement solutions that are high-quality, secure, and observable.
  • Continuous Improvement: Determined to achieve ambitious goals, providing regular feedback, and driving continuous improvement.
